Joe Biden attempted to shut down any voice that opposed his radical agenda.
And he used the Department of Justice to unfairly target conservative and Christian activists.
But now Chip Roy is leading an effort to repeal this law used by the Biden administration to prosecute pro-life activists.
More than 20 House Republicans are supporting a bill that would repeal the federal law used by Joe Biden’s administration to prosecute dozens of pro-life activists.
Congressman Chip Roy (R-TX) has introduced legislation which would repeal the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances, or FACE Act.
This law has been selectively used to target pro-life activists who have peacefully protested outside of abortion mills.
Roy shared data his office received from the Justice Department that showed 97% of FACE Act prosecutions in the last 20 years were against pro-life activists.
“Americans just spent the last four years being targeted by a weaponized justice system. The FACE Act was one of the primary weapons of abuse – being used to politically target, arrest, and jail pro-life Americans for speaking out and standing up for life,” Roy said in a statement.
“Now that we have a Republican trifecta in the House, Senate, and White House, Congress should move quickly to repeal this law and ensure that no future president can weaponize it against pro-lifers ever again.”
The FACE Act makes it a federal crime to use “threats of force, obstruction or inflict property damage intended to interfere with reproductive health care services.”
The 1994 law was used extensively by President Biden’s Department of Justice to aggressively target and prosecute pro-life activists since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in the June 2022 Dobbs decision.
The FACE Act has almost never been invoked against pro-abortion thugs who have violently attacked pro-life organizations and pregnancy resource centers.
More than 90 violent attacks by pro-abortion zealots
According to Roy’s office, there have been at least 90 such attacks since May 2022, when the draft text from the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision leaked to the public.
But despite the violent attacks which have included firebombing, physical assaults, and break-ins, the Biden administration prosecuted only five individuals for attacks on pro-life facilities.
And many attacks against Catholic churches and pro-life centers were never prosecuted.
In contrast, FACE Act prosecutions of pro-life activists like Mark Houck, who was later acquitted, angered Americans and proved that the Biden DOJ was politically biased against pro-life activists.
A SWAT team of around 25 officers arrested Houck, a Catholic father of seven, in front of his children at their Pennsylvania home in October 2021.
Dozens of conservative and pro-life groups have petitioned President Donald Trump to pardon at least 21 other pro-life activists who were arrested and convicted of peacefully protesting outside abortion mills, some for merely silently praying.
Ten pro-life defendants convicted of violating the FACE Act received prison sentences ranging from 10 months to 57 months for their participation in a 2020 “blockade” of an abortion clinic in Washington, D.C.
In May, 75-year-old Paulette Harlow was issued a 2-year prison sentence, and Lauren Handy was sentenced to almost five years in prison.
Trump has rightfully criticized the Biden administration for prosecuting these pro-life protesters and has indicated he would consider granting them full pardons.
Tom McClusky, director of government affairs for CatholicVote, called the prosecutions of pro-lifers under Biden “unfair” and praised Roy for introducing the bill to repeal FACE.
“Now that we have a President who will sign the bill into law it is time to pass Rep. Chip Roy’s FACE Act Repeal,” McClusky said in a statement.
That is a good first step, and pro-life activists, and most Americans are praying President Trump issues pardons for the pro-life hostages soon.
