Clayton Kershaw publicly broke with the Dodgers when they honored a drag troupe that mocks Catholic nuns.
Three World Series rings and one retirement later, the Dodgers legend has signed up for an even bigger fight.
And he delivered the news with his nine-month-old daughter in his arms.
Clayton Kershaw Named March for Life 2027 Keynote Speaker
March for Life organizers told reporters on a September 29 call that Kershaw will headline the January 22, 2027, rally in Washington as keynote speaker.
The theme is as direct as a Kershaw fastball: "The Truth Is Pro-Life."
Little Chloe, his fifth child and the baby of the family, was in his arms as he spoke.
"I'm excited to get to be the speaker for the 2027 March for Life," he said. "She's excited for us to be there, too, and we can't wait."
This isn't some washed-up celebrity looking for a comeback stage.
Kershaw retired after winning his third World Series ring in 2025, with three Cy Young Awards, an MVP and more than 3,000 strikeouts to his name.
At his retirement press conference, he pointed to his favorite Bible verse, Colossians 3:23, about working at everything as if working for the Lord.
His charity, Kershaw's Challenge, serves children in need from Los Angeles and Dallas to Zambia and the Dominican Republic.
Kershaw Answered the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence Pride Night Insult With Jesus
Dodgers fans already know where this man stands.
In 2023, the Dodgers front office reinvited the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence – a drag group that dresses up as nuns to ridicule the Catholic Church – to be honored at Pride Night.
Plenty of players kept their heads down.
Kershaw didn't.
"This is simply a group that was making fun of a religion that I don't agree with," he said.
"No matter what religion you are, you shouldn't make fun of somebody else's religion."
Then he did something smarter than griping.
He said the team sped up the announcement of its Christian Faith and Family Day, and he explained the goal was to "show what we do support, as opposed to maybe what we don't. And that was Jesus."
That's the man walking to the podium in January.
Gavin Newsom's Abortion Pill Standoff With Louisiana Shows Why the Truth Is Pro-Life
The 2026 theme was "Life Is a Gift."
"Last year, our theme spoke to the heart," said Hayden Sledge, chief of staff for the March for Life. "This year, we are speaking to the head."
Sledge said truth "does not change with an election or due to politics, or current trends."
Kershaw's adopted home state proves the point.
When Louisiana tried to extradite a California doctor accused of mailing abortion pills to a Louisiana woman, Gov. Gavin Newsom refused.
"California will never help you criminalize health care," Newsom said.
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill fired back: "Killing Louisiana babies isn't healthcare, nor is shielding California drug dealers."
The pro-life movement is landing punches of its own.
After President Trump signed the One Big Beautiful Bill, Planned Parenthood reported that nearly 70 of its centers closed in 2025.
That one-year defund expired in July 2026, and the Medicaid money is flowing again.
The Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022, yet dozens of states still allow abortion, and pro-life groups count roughly 63 million babies lost since 1973.
Organizers are urging marchers to bring "the hard questions" about human life to the people around them who aren't pro-life yet.
Clayton Kershaw's Pro-Life Stand Puts a Hall of Fame Legacy on the Line
In January 2026, Vice President JD Vance and Speaker Mike Johnson rallied the March for Life crowd, and President Trump sent a video message.
They fight for life with laws and votes.
Kershaw brings something different – a stadium-sized following he had no reason to risk.
He has the rings, the trophies and a Hall of Fame ballot waiting for him.
The sports media that cheered his every start will now have to decide whether to sneer at a father of five for saying babies deserve to live.
Picture the scale of what he's marching against.
Dodger Stadium holds about 56,000 people.
Sixty-three million lost lives would fill it to capacity more than 1,100 times.
Kershaw pitched to sellout crowds in that ballpark for 18 seasons.
On January 22, he'll speak for the ones who never got a seat.
