The abortion-on-demand lobby is working overtime to kill even more babies.
And they are willing to violate both state and federal law to accomplish their deadly goal.
Now a disturbing new CDC report shows chemical abortion pills are being prescribed past these legal limits.
The abortion pill is almost certainly being prescribed past the approved U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) limit of 70 days/10 weeks of pregnancy.
Openly flouting FDA limits resulting in failed abortions
This is resulting in failed abortions, according to the latest abortion inspection report published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
This CDC report confirms that many within the abortion industry are openly flouting the FDA’s approved limit for the chemical abortion pill.
They are prescribing abortion-inducing drugs well into the second trimester of pregnancy.
And in addition to failed abortions, these actions are also causing the deaths of women.
The FDA implemented a Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) for the abortion pill, mifepristone in 2011, following the deaths of several women.
At that time, the chemical abortion pill had only been approved for use up to 7 weeks of pregnancy.
But in 2016, the Obama administration’s FDA weakened the REMS by removing the requirements that women or teen girls take the first drug in front of a doctor, in-person, at the location of a certified abortion drug prescriber.
Obama’s FDA also removed a requirement that the manufacturer report the drug’s non-fatal complications, and the deadly drug’s permitted use was extended for up to 10 weeks (70 days) of pregnancy.
A limit that remains in effect but is largely ignored
While the 10-week limit remains in effect today, the Biden Administration has expanded use of the drug by permanently allowing the drug to be shipped by mail.
And most recently, they gutted the REMS even further by allowing retail pharmacies to dispense the drug, which many have begun doing.
The FDA also put the policing of the chemical abortion drug’s safety regulations in the hands of the very manufacturers of the drug who make money by allowing the use of it far past the FDA’s 10-week limit.
The most recent CDC report documents a total of 625,978 abortions reported to the CDC in 2021.
More recent data published in October 2023 by #WeCount estimated that 1,072,240 preborn babies were killed by abortion between June 2022 and June 2023.
This includes 88,600 committed by virtual-only chemical abortion pill dispensaries.
“Increases in chemical abortions are playing a large role in the abortion increase,” wrote Dr. Michael New, an assistant professor at the Catholic University of America and a senior associate scholar at the Charlotte Lozier Institute.
“[F]ederal abortion-reporting standards remain weak, and there are serious concerns about the reliability of CDC abortion data. The CDC did not report 2021 abortion data from California, Maryland, New Hampshire, and New Jersey. In fact, the CDC has not reported any data from California since 1997 and has not reported data from Maryland or New Hampshire since 2006. Furthermore, other states failed to report data about late-term abortions or the demographics of women who obtain abortions. Still others failed to provide specific statistics about chemical abortions or surgical abortions,” Dr. New wrote.
Despite these limitations, in 2021 alone, the CDC recorded a total of 565,312 “medication” abortions, of which at least 17,155 were recorded at greater than 9 weeks gestation.
The big abortion business openly flouts FDA Limits
There is good reason the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has only approved dispensing the abortion pill mifepristone safely through 10 weeks.
Any later and the failure rate increases, often drastically, which can result in greater complications for the woman.
But for a business that is focused on death, these complications don’t matter, even if they result in the death of the very women they claim they are helping.
