The Biden administration has been actively and aggressively targeting pro-life activists.
Unfortunately, many of them have landed in jail.
But when Joe Biden threw this man in prison for peacefully protesting abortion, he didn’t expect this reaction.
Pro-life activist Cal Zastrow couldn’t spend Thanksgiving with his wife and family.
Imprisoned by Joe Biden for exercising his First Amendment rights
Cal didn’t miss his flight, he wasn’t away travelling for work, and he wasn’t sick in the hospital.
Instead, Cal missed only the 2nd Thanksgiving ever with his wife in their 41 years of marriage because Joe Biden put him in federal prison for peacefully protesting abortion.
Zastrow was one of more than a dozen pro-life Americans subjected to prison over an unconstitutional federal law called the FACE Act.
And the Biden administration has exploited the FACE Act to put Americans behind bars for merely expressing their First Amendment protest rights.
They have aggressively targeted Christians, homeschoolers, gun owners and pro-life activists in an effort to quash free speech.
Well, at least the free speech of anyone who disagrees with their radical Democrat policies.
Joe Biden, who pardoned his own son for decades of disgusting and felonious crimes, is instead more interested in attacking peaceful pro-life Christians.
All the while, radical and violent pro-abortion extremists continue to commit acts of terrorism against pro-life centers, churches, and individuals, and remain free.
While the grotesque double standard of the Biden administration justifies intense anger and resentment, Cal Zastrow, for one, is not letting his predicament dampen his Christian faith.
In fact, he is using his persecution to spread the gospel.
“I’m on a big mission trip here”
Zastrow recently told the Daily Wire he’s using the time in prison to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
“I’m all on fire for Jesus,” he said. “I’m doing absolutely great, I’m on a big mission trip here.”
Now just over one month into his prison sentence, Zastrow said he has been busy praying, reading his Bible, and teaching his fellow inmates about Christ.
“There’s a whole lot of prodigals who are wallowing in pig mud, but they want to come back to Jesus, and so I’m here as a missionary to pull them out of that and help them get back on the Jesus road,” he said.
He also said his friends and family have sent him over 50 books so far, mostly books about Christian missionaries.
He said he has turned his cell into a small library.
Zastrow went on to say he’s been giving away a lot of copies in English and Spanish of the book Tortured for Christ.
The book is about Richard Wurmbrand, a pastor who spent years in a communist prison in Romania.
Zastrow is so committed to his work in prison that he even said he has mixed feelings about the possibility of President Donald Trump pardoning him.
“I’m not getting my hopes up too high,” he said. “Plus I’m busy here. I’m busy. This prison holds almost 2,300 men and their need to hear about Jesus, their need for that is greater than my need for liberty. And so I’m here on a DOJ-sponsored mission trip.”
Zastrow said most of the guards in the prison are unpleasant and frequently “bark” and “scream” at the prisoners.
But despite the poor treatment he remains undeterred, “They can’t touch my joy, they can’t touch my soul, they can’t touch my attitude,” he said.
A travesty of justice
The FACE Act prohibits use of force, obstruction, or property damage intended to interfere with “reproductive health care services.”
Though it is supposed to also protect houses of worship and pro-life pregnancy resource centers as well as abortion clinics, the Biden administration’s Justice Department has used the FACE Act only to prosecute pro-life activists.
The Biden-Harris administration and the DOJ have clearly weaponized the FACE Act against pro-lifers while failing to charge violent pro-abortion criminals for the hundreds of attacks on pro-life pregnancy resource centers and churches since the May 2022 leak of the draft Supreme Court opinion indicating Roe v. Wade would be overturned.
A growing list of politicians, including Congressman Chip Roy (R-TX) and Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) are now calling for the repeal of the FACE Act, arguing that it serves no purpose but to target pro-life activists.
“The Biden administration is using the FACE Act to give pro-life activists and senior citizens lengthy prison terms for nonviolent offenses and protests—all while turning a blind eye to the violence, arson, and riots conducted on behalf of ‘approved’ leftist causes,” Lee told The Daily Signal in May.
“Unequal enforcement of the law is a violation of the law,” Lee added, “and men and women who try to expose the horrors of abortion are being unjustly persecuted for their motivations.”
