Joe Biden Told a Planned Parenthood Gala Who He Really Owes His Political Career To

A South Carolina priest refused Joe Biden Holy Communion in 2019 over his abortion stance.

Seven years later, Biden walked into a Planned Parenthood champagne gala in Delaware to accept an award.

And the self-described practicing Catholic told the crowd exactly who he owes his political career to.

Jill Biden Handed Joe Biden the Planned Parenthood Sonia Sloan Award

The event was Planned Parenthood of Delaware's "Chocolate and Champagne Gala" on September 25.

Jill Biden took the stage and presented her husband with the Sonia Schorr Sloan Service Award.

The award is named for the late Sonia "Sonny" Sloan, who served as president of Planned Parenthood of Delaware from 1980 to 1984 and stayed on its board until she died in 2019.

She was also one of Biden's most loyal political soldiers.

"I've worked on every one of Joe's campaigns," Sloan said in 2019.

"This is an incredible honor," Biden said at the gala.

Then he gave Sloan the credit for everything.

Biden said he would never have become a senator or president "if it weren't for Sonny Sloan."

The crowd cheered.

Jill Biden told the room that "decisions that shape a family belong to that family, not to the politicians."

Joe Biden Bragged About His Abortion Executive Orders After Dobbs

Biden told the crowd how Sloan would have taken the 2022 Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade.

"She would have felt devastated," he said, along with "anger and astonishment."

Then he laid out his record.

"Following the Dobbs decision, as president, I tried to do what I knew Sonny would have done," Biden said.

"We took action. We signed executive orders to protect access to reproductive health care, including emergency medical care."

That's the language Planned Parenthood loves – "reproductive health care" – and everyone in that room knew what it meant.

Planned Parenthood Abortions Hit Records While Taxpayers Kept Paying

The abortion giant had every reason to say thank you.

Planned Parenthood's abortion numbers hit record highs while Biden was in the White House.

Its most recent annual report counted 434,450 abortions in its 2023-24 fiscal year – up 8 percent from the year before.

It also pulled in $832 million in government grants, contracts, and Medicaid reimbursements – nearly $2.3 million a day.

That's taxpayer money flowing to the nation's biggest abortion business, and a champagne toast to the man who kept it flowing.

Biden's Justice Department Used the FACE Act to Imprison Pro-Life Seniors

While Planned Parenthood was setting records, Biden's Justice Department was going after pro-lifers.

Paulette Harlow was 75 when she was convicted over an October 2020 blockade of a Washington, D.C., abortion clinic.

She was found guilty of a federal civil rights conspiracy and violating the FACE Act.

She got 24 months in federal prison.

Her sister, Jean Marshall, a former nurse, got 24 months too.

"I have never, ever, ever seen any violence on the part of pro-life people," Harlow said.

President Donald Trump pardoned 23 of those pro-lifers on January 23, 2025, and called the prosecutions "disgraceful."

Biden Said Roe v. Wade Went Too Far Before He Was Denied Communion

It wasn't always this way.

In 1974, a 31-year-old Sen. Joe Biden told The Washingtonian he didn't like Roe.

"I think it went too far," he said.

"I don't think that a woman has the sole right to say what should happen to her body."

For decades, Biden backed the Hyde Amendment, which keeps federal tax dollars from paying for most abortions.

In June 2019, running for president, he dropped that support.

Months later, Father Robert Morey of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Florence, South Carolina, turned him away at the Communion line.

"Sadly, this past Sunday, I had to refuse Holy Communion to former Vice President Joe Biden," Morey said.

Biden brushed it off.

"I'm a practicing Catholic. I practice my faith," he said, insisting he'd never let his beliefs "impose" on anyone else.

Biden the Practicing Catholic Took a Bow for Planned Parenthood

The Catholic Church teaches that human life must be protected absolutely from the moment of conception.

Biden knows that.

A priest in Florence reminded him in 2019.

Yet there he was in Delaware, with his wife handing him an award from the nation's largest abortion business and a room full of activists applauding.

Biden says he owes his political career to Sonny Sloan.

The 434,450 babies in a single year of Planned Parenthood's records never got the chance to owe anyone anything.
