The American Medical Association has become just one more left-wing lobbying group.
But most Americans didn’t realize just how far away from medicine they’ve fallen.
And Joe Biden was grinning from ear to ear after the American Medical Association voted down this resolution to protect babies.
The American Medical Association (AMA) recently voted down a resolution that would oppose the deliberate killing of babies who survive abortions.
AMA’s left-wing ideology on full display
Most Americans may not realize it, but the now liberal medical group was once a respected, science and medicine-based organization that defended the Hippocratic oath.
That oath, of course, is attributed to the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates, and was adopted as a guide of conduct by the medical profession throughout the centuries.
It is still used in the graduation ceremonies of many medical schools.
In the oath, the physician pledges to “prescribe only beneficial treatments, according to his abilities and judgment; to refrain from causing harm or hurt; and to live an exemplary personal and professional life.”
But sadly, the AMA, which also endorses the dangerous chemical and surgical mutilation of gender-confused children, voted down the common sense resolution from a self-described “pro-choice” Virginia doctor.
The group, currently meeting in Chicago, has put its left-wing ideology on full display for the world to see, at the expense of both the Hippocratic Oath, and the very patients they were once sworn to protect.
Only one Doctor spoke for the children
As reported in MedPage Today, “[Dr. Thomas Eppes] asked the AMA to ‘advocate for availability of the highest standard of neonatal care to [an] aborted fetus born alive at a gestational age of viability,’ which occurs at approximately 22 weeks’ gestation. ‘This position is not to argue the woman’s right to choose . . . The decision to abort is still between the patient and the physician,’ Eppes said. ‘It does not imply the woman’s responsibility for the fetal life, but this resolution places the burden of care on the physician, who now has to care for two patients once the fetus is viable.’”
But in a shocking display of callousness, Dr. Eppes was the only person who was even willing to speak out in favor of his resolution.
“Do you believe the fetus is a separate being?” Eppes asked.
“Do the rights and care of a fetus at 22 weeks change if the fetus is in a man-made incubator versus the uterus of a woman? […] CEJA needs to take on this complicated issue and report back,” Eppes also asked.
A resounding vote against life
And it was then soundly voted down by the AMA convention by a vote of 476 to 106.
The “no” vote came after the pro-abortion American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) came out against it.
Dr. Kavita Arora said in opposition to the resolution. “It is not a one-size-fits-all approach and should not be based on misinformation or disinformation. I strongly urge you to oppose.”
The disgusting vote by the AMA proves yet again why Congress must act and provide protections for babies from doctors who either leave them on the table to die, or worse, actively kill them after birth.
