To say the leftist media has not been fair to pro-life supporters would be an extreme understatement.
It is almost impossible to get the truth about abortion drugs and procedures through any of the so-called “mainstream” media outlets.
But the left-wing media is finally giving this national pro-life group the recognition they deserve.
Many people don’t really grasp the rough and tumble world of grassroots political activism. It moves quickly and has lots of moving parts.
It is made much more complicated by the steady stream of lies that flow out of the leftist, pro-abortion media.
For instance, the media started covering the tragic story of Amber Thurman’s death as an example of how Georgia’s abortion law was dangerous to women’s health.
It took a full news cycle to even figure out the truth of the situation. This does not make pro-lifers’ lives easier.
But recently, the Wall Street Journal surprised everyone when they did a behind the scenes look at the life of the President of Students for Life Action, Kristan Hawkins, which was surprisingly fair.
It showed how she would not back down to President Trump and warned him that supporting the pro-abortion ballot initiative would cost him the pro-life vote.
It also gave a glimpse into what it is like coordinating door-knocking efforts in 7 states with ballot initiatives and raising funds for a massive advertising campaign.
It was a busy time, but instead of attacking Hawkins, the article just showed the rough and tumble world of grassroots politics.
“At 39 years old, she (Hawkins) has been leading her organization for nearly two decades, after skipping a grade in high school and giving up a dream of becoming an aeronautical engineer. She is brash and sometimes profane in describing the fight. When three female Republican legislators in South Carolina were contemplating voting against a near-total abortion ban there, Hawkins had students deliver them plastic spines to send the message she wanted them to “grow a spine” on the issue. When the three women ultimately voted against the bill, the group campaigned against them in a primary and successfully defeated them, sending them moving boxes as a final dig,” the Wall Street Journal reported.
And as far as the ad campaign…
Well, according to the article, the purchase was a surprise.
Hawkins’ team found out a key slot opened up during Fox News coverage of the Vice-Presidential debate.
Hawkins knew they couldn’t pass up the opportunity to spread truth about abortion.
And to pull back the blinders on Americans’ eyes and show them Tim Walz’s record in Minnesota.
Hawkins and her team quickly scrambled to raise $160,000 in four hours so they could run the ad.
“Hawkins learned that she had a last-minute opportunity to secure an advertising spot during the vice-presidential debate. She scrambled to raise more than $160,000 in four hours to run an ad accusing Tim Walz, the Democratic vice-presidential candidate, of signing legislation as Minnesota governor that allowed babies who survive abortion to be left to die. (Walz denies this.),” the Wall Street Journal reported.
It was refreshing to see how real-world political activism works, without ultra-leftist, pro-abortion sniping in a major publication.
