Maryland set to vote on this radical pro-abortion Amendment to the State Constitution

Pro-abortion zealots are pushing radical pro-abortion legislation around the country.

And they are working to make sure abortion becomes a right forever.

That’s why Maryland is set to vote on this radical pro-abortion Amendment to the State Constitution.

Radical pro-abortion activists are working to expand the right to kill the pre-born around the country.

While states like Florida, Utah, Wyoming, and many others are working to protect life, deep blue state legislators are working to enshrine the right to abortion into state law.

“Much work to do”

And in Maryland it appears the legislature is poised to pass a Constitutional Amendment to enshrine the right to kill the pre-born into the state’s Constitution.

That’s why Pro-life activists “will have much work to do together over the next year and a half” to defeat the amendment, according to Maryland Right to Life.

The Maryland House of Delegates voted 98-38 to place before voters a State Constitutional Amendment that would establish a state-level “right” to abortion next year.

The proposed “Maryland Right to Reproductive Freedom Amendment” would add language to the Maryland Constitution enshrining abortion into the State Constitution.

The Amendment declares that “every person, as a central component of an individual’s rights to liberty and equality, has the fundamental right to reproductive freedom, including but not limited to the ability to make and effectuate decisions to prevent, continue, or end one’s own pregnancy,” which government cannot, “directly or indirectly, deny, burden, or abridge” without a “compelling state interest achieved by the least restrictive means.”

The Associated Press reports that with the recent House vote, both chambers of the state legislature have approved the Amendment by a three-fifths margin.

Under Maryland law, this clears the measure to appear on the 2024 ballot, where it will need a simple-majority vote of Marylanders to become law.

Expanding the right to kill

“To defeat an abortion amendment on the ballot will require massive efforts in strategic messaging throughout the state. We are already consulting with experts from National RTL and peer state affiliates and of course we are marshaling support from our coalition of pro-life organization allies. We have fought hard to build bridges that we know, God willing, will enable a pathway to victory,” said Maryland Right to Life.

In the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s June 2022 ruling overturning Roe v. Wade and restoring states’ ability to set their own abortion laws, Planned Parenthood has suspended abortions and/or closed locations across the country.

Meanwhile Pro-Life Attorneys General have stated their intention to enforce their states’ abortion prohibitions.

But radical left-wing prosecutors in various states and localities have vowed not to enforce such laws, and pro-abortion activists are pursuing a number of strategies to preserve abortion “access.”

Among those are moves to enshrine “rights” to abortion into State Constitutions.

Where successful, these efforts will effectively insulate abortion from ordinary state legislation.

Other actions by the pro-abortionists include supporting interstate distribution of chemical abortion pills and taxpayer-funded interstate travel for abortion.

Democrats are eyeing a federal “solution”

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden has called on Congress to pass legislation codifying a “right” to abortion into federal law.

This would not only restore, but also expand, abortion rights by making it illegal for states to pass virtually any pro-life laws.

Democrats currently lack the votes to do so in the House, but it is sure to be one of the major issues of the 2024 elections.

Unless Republicans and pro-life activists fight back, the pro-aborts will sail to victory, and millions more babies will be killed.
