Planned Parenthood Branded Trump’s FDA Pick Heidi Overton a Threat Over One Abortion Pill Promise

Rosalie Markezich begged her boyfriend not to make her swallow the abortion pills a California doctor mailed to her home.

Those pills reached Louisiana because Joe Biden's FDA stopped requiring women to see a doctor in person.

Trump's pro-life FDA pick just made one promise, and Planned Parenthood rushed to brand her a threat.

Rosalie Markezich Lost Her Baby to Abortion Pills By Mail

Rosalie found out she was pregnant in October 2023.

Her boyfriend ordered mifepristone and misoprostol online using her email and her mailing address.

Sitting in his vehicle, she pleaded, "Don't make me do this."

"The blood started coming and at that moment I knew my chances were not in my favor," she said.

No doctor ever examined her in person.

"If mail-order abortion wasn't a thing, I'm 100% sure I would have my child," Rosalie said.

She's now standing beside the State of Louisiana in a federal lawsuit against the FDA.

Planned Parenthood Targets Heidi Overton At Her FDA Confirmation Hearing

On September 24, Indiana Senator Jim Banks asked Dr. Heidi Overton when the FDA's safety study of mifepristone would finally be finished.

Banks told the HELP Committee he was disappointed the FDA had "removed so many guardrails from this dangerous drug."

Overton answered that the study "would immediately be on my desk" if she's confirmed.

She said it has to be done "in the most durable scientific way possible," and she pledged to be transparent with the public about what it finds.

Planned Parenthood Action Fund spokesperson Sarah Guggenheimer declared, "Heidi Overton is a threat to abortion."

She warned that any senator who backs Overton is "putting people's lives and health at risk."

The group that performs more abortions than anyone in America is now lecturing senators about risking lives.

Planned Parenthood is furious Overton committed to "seeing through the FDA's politically motivated review of mifepristone."

It attacked her for refusing to recite its line that an IUD is "contraceptive care, not an 'abortifacient.'"

And it blasted her because she "failed to shut down conspiracies about birth control in wastewater."

Senator Patty Murray went after a policy brief Overton co-authored calling abortion "corrosive to children, women, and society broadly."

Murray treated that sentence like a disqualifying offense.

The Johns Hopkins Doctor Trump Picked for FDA Commissioner

Overton did her surgical residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital and holds a doctorate in clinical investigation from the Johns Hopkins public health school.

She's board-certified in preventive medicine and now helps run domestic policy at the White House as deputy director of the Domestic Policy Council.

At the America First Policy Institute, she pushed to restore the in-person safeguards Biden stripped away.

"Women can now see a baby inside their womb, watch it move and breathe, take home a picture and share it with friends on social media," Overton said in 2022.

That's a doctor who looked at the ultrasound screen and told the truth about what's on it.

Mifepristone Side Effects the FDA Abortion Pill Label Leaves Out

The FDA label is built on clinical trials of 30,966 women, some conducted decades ago.

The Ethics and Public Policy Center studied insurance claims from 865,727 real-world mifepristone abortions between 2017 and 2023.

It found 10.93 percent of women suffered a serious adverse event like sepsis, infection, or hemorrhaging.

That's roughly 22 times higher than the label admits.

Josh Hawley pressed Overton on where the FDA stands, telling her, "I want to be sure that the FDA is not changing its position."

She answered that the drug's safety program is under review and "there is no change in position."

Overton played it safe in front of the committee, and pro-life leaders noticed.

Students for Life President Kristan Hawkins called her answers "disappointing."

Hawkins joined Tony Perkins, Lila Rose, and 47 other pro-life leaders in urging Overton before the hearing to shut down Biden's mail-order pipeline.

Planned Parenthood Races the October 7 Mifepristone Lawsuit Deadline

The FDA owes the federal court hearing Rosalie's case an update on its mifepristone review by October 7.

That lawsuit is frozen while the review runs, and abortion pills keep landing in mailboxes in states that protect unborn children.

Planned Parenthood wants Overton stopped before that review ever reaches her desk.

A careful, transparent study only threatens people who already know what honest science will find.

Pro-life leaders are right to push her harder, and she should hear them.

But Planned Parenthood just told the Senate exactly who it fears most – the physician who looked at an ultrasound and saw a baby.

Rosalie Markezich knows what that baby was worth.
