Planned Parenthood Builds a $114 Million War Chest to Punish the Republicans Who Defunded It

Planned Parenthood already spent a record $50 million trying to save its allies in the 2022 midterms.

Congress just handed the group's political machine an even bigger paycheck to try again.

The Republicans who voted to defund Planned Parenthood are now the specific targets of its $114 million counterattack.

Planned Parenthood's Medicaid Funding Cutoff Quietly Became a One Year Bill

President Trump signed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act on July 4, 2025, cutting off roughly $700 million a year in Medicaid reimbursements to Planned Parenthood.

The provision was originally written to last a decade.

Somewhere in the drafting process, without any public explanation, Congress shrank it down to a single year.

Planned Parenthood sued to block the cut anyway and lost, then dropped the lawsuit in February 2026 once the courts made clear the defunding was legal.

The law was never the problem.

The clock was.

Planned Parenthood's Medicaid Money Came Back on America's 250th Birthday

The one-year window closed on July 4, 2026, the same day the country marked 250 years of independence.

Planned Parenthood picked up hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars in Medicaid reimbursements almost immediately.

Live Action founder Lila Rose called letting the ban expire a "moral failure."

National Right to Life's Carol Tobias put it more bluntly: "We expected them to do it again. It's the same Congress."

Planned Parenthood Votes Leads a $47 Million Slice of the $114 Million Midterm Push

Planned Parenthood Votes, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Reproductive Freedom for All, the ACLU, and EMILY's List pledged a combined $114 million for the 2026 midterms within weeks of the money coming back.

Planned Parenthood's political arms account for more than $50 million of that total by themselves.

Planned Parenthood Votes alone put $47 million behind a stated goal to "build support for a lasting, durable right to abortion."

None of that is subtle about what the money is for.

Planned Parenthood Targets Vulnerable Republicans Who Voted to Defund It

Reps. Bill Huizenga, Mariannette Miller-Meeks, Juan Ciscomani, and David Valadao are among the Republicans who backed the original Medicaid cutoff.

They are precisely the kind of seats this money is built to flip.

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America made the same point about the abortion lobby back in 2022, when it called that spending spree proof of "just how desperate they are to preserve their lucrative business of killing unborn children and exploiting their mothers."

The target list changed.

The business model did not.

Community Health Centers Already Outnumber Planned Parenthood 15 to 1

Planned Parenthood has already shut at least 38 locations since the cutoff began, and internal estimates put the eventual toll at up to 250 closures before this year is out.

Nobody lost access to care when those doors shut.

Community health centers and rural health clinics already outnumber Planned Parenthood locations 15 to 1, running more than 8,800 sites to Planned Parenthood's 579.

Those clinics handle the OB-GYN exams, contraception, and prenatal care Planned Parenthood claims only it can provide.

When Planned Parenthood says it helps women through a pregnancy, that help was abortion 97 percent of the time in 2023 and 2024 — prenatal care, miscarriage support, and adoption referrals barely cracked 3 percent combined.

Cutting the check did not create a gap in women's health care.

It just cut off the one part of Planned Parenthood's business that actually depended on it.

Congress Could Still Defund Planned Parenthood for Good

House Speaker Mike Johnson, Majority Leader Steve Scalise, and Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington have all floated a fourth reconciliation bill to make the defunding permanent.

The third reconciliation bill passed on July 22 without a single word about Planned Parenthood in it, prioritizing defense and immigration spending instead.

Operation Rescue's Troy Newman said lawmakers "continue to refuse to defund Planned Parenthood in the reconciliation bill or any meaningful legislation."

The courts already said this fight is legally winnable.

Now it comes down to whether House leadership finishes the job before the abortion industry's $114 million reaches the seats that made this fight possible in the first place.

This is the part that should make every pro-life voter furious.

Medicaid reimbursements are legally walled off from Planned Parenthood's political spending, but money is money.

Every dollar Congress lets flow back into the clinics is a dollar the organization no longer has to raise itself for lobbying, staffing, and turnout operations elsewhere.

Restore the funding, and you restore the war chest behind it.

That is exactly what just happened to Bill Huizenga, Mariannette Miller-Meeks, Juan Ciscomani, David Valadao, and every other Republican who took a hard vote to protect life and taxpayers.

The country already ran this experiment once, closing dozens of Planned Parenthood facilities without leaving a single woman without somewhere else to go.

The only thing standing between that result and a permanent one is whether House leadership finishes what the last bill started.
