It was a sad day for pro-lifers in the city of New Orleans.
A pro-life group chose a favorite local eatery for a laid back meetup and were met with swift and unexpected backlash.
The restaurant said they were no longer welcome there – and the reason why will leave you speechless!
The city of New Orleans is known for its vibrant and diverse culture, but no one expected a place of business to come out so strongly against members of their community.
It all started when Second Line Brewing, a popular Mid-City establishment in New Orleans, was announced as the venue for a pro-life event titled “Pro Life and Pints.”
The event, organized by Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans, aimed to bring young adults together to support the pro-life cause.
The gathering, which included a $20 cover fee offering attendees two beers, food, prizes, and talks by special guest speakers from the Sisters of Life, drew immediate, unwarranted criticism from local residents.
Louisiana, despite its sweeping abortion ban, has a significant portion of pro-choice residents.
Outraged individuals voiced their concerns, with some even vowing to boycott the brewery.
The owners of Second Line Brewing quickly sided with the angry mobs.
In a statement, co-owner Mark Logan expressed deep regret, mentioning that they were unaware of the event’s purpose until they saw promotional materials circulating online.
It was this discovery that led the brewery owners to withdraw their venue offer from the event organizers.
The situation highlighted the clash of values in a city where diverse opinions and beliefs often coexist.
But in this case, the restaurant owners made it clear there was no room for young people and nuns to talk about respecting and fighting for life.
The incident provides a sad example of the unfair treatment that peaceful pro-lifers face, just because of their pro-life views.
Second Line Brewing, in its statement, emphasized its commitment to promoting principles of diversity, inclusion, and equality.
But apparently those values don’t extend to those who don’t hold THEIR viewpoint. . .
The brewery acknowledged that this incident did not align with their core values, expressing deep remorse for any unintended offense caused to their patrons and the community at large.
They pledged to exercise greater diligence in vetting future events, ironically to ensure alignment with their values of inclusivity (all while leaving the pro-life group completely out to dry.)
This incident has ignited a passionate debate within the local community.
Some voiced concerns about freedom of expression and religious beliefs, while others emphasized the importance of respecting the views and rights of others, especially in a diverse and inclusive society.
As the city grapples with this polarizing issue, we stand with the pro-lifers of New Orleans and encourage them to stand strong against the pro-choice waves that seem to be overtaking their city.
And we hope they find an even better place to have a drink and stand up for life!
