This incredible event inspired thousands of pro-lifers and proved to the pro-abortion mob that the fight for Life is far from over

The news can be downright depressing these days . . .

. . . especially for the warriors fighting to defend the preborn.

But recently, this incredible event inspired thousands of pro-lifers and proved to the pro-abortion mob that the fight for Life is far from over.

On June 22, pro-life advocates gathered at the State Capitol in Des Moines for the Second Annual Iowa March for Life, celebrating the second anniversary of the landmark Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization Supreme Court decision that overturned Roe v. Wade

This event was a sight to behold.

There were several truly inspiring aspects that should encourage pro-lifers across the country that the states are not giving in.

This event, organized by several pro-life groups including Pulse Life Advocates and Iowa Right to Life, saw the participation of LIFE Runners, a prominent pro-life group known for its distinctive “REMEMBER The Unborn” jerseys.

LIFE Runners, with over 23,500 members in more than 3,500 cities across 47 nations, uses prayer, devotions, and teamwork to spread the pro-life message.

Their jerseys, featuring Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you,” have become iconic symbols at pro-life events.

The Iowa March for Life began with pro-life displays in the Capitol Rotunda, followed by a series of powerful speeches from notable figures.

Des Moines Bishop William Joensen, Rev. Dr. B. Keith Haney, Pulse Life Advocates Executive Director Maggie DeWitte, Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird, and other pro-life advocates addressed the crowd, urging them to continue the fight for life.

Bishop Joensen quoted St. John Paul II’s 1995 papal encyclical, Evangelium Vitae (The Gospel of Life), saying, “The acceptance of abortion in the popular mind, in behavior, and even in law itself, is a telling sign of an extremely dangerous crisis of the moral sense, which is becoming more and more incapable of distinguishing between good and evil, even when the fundamental right to life is at stake.”

Iowans are currently awaiting a decision from the Iowa Supreme Court on the state’s heartbeat law.

Governor Kim Reynolds signed the heartbeat bill on July 14, 2023, only for it to be blocked by a Polk County District Court Judge three days later.

Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers had sued to halt the law.

Attorney General Brenna Bird appealed the decision last November, underscoring the state’s commitment to protecting life.

Bird praised the pro-life movement’s efforts, saying, “The first duty of government is to defend we the people.”

“LIFE Runners will continue to wear our ‘REMEMBER The Unborn’ witness until every baby and mother is protected from abortion as intended in our nation’s founding documents which clearly include the right to life as self-evident, inalienable, and God-given.”

Maggie DeWitte, Executive Director of Pulse Life Advocates, highlighted the importance of boldness and truth in the pro-life movement.

“Now is the time of boldness and truth, as well as compassion and love. That is how we win this battle,” she said.

DeWitte emphasized that abortion is never the solution, stating, “Killing an unborn child in the womb will not solve anything.”

“It won’t end poverty but create more poverty. It won’t end inequality but create more inequality. It won’t end mental health issues but create more mental health issues.”

The march concluded with participants circling the Capitol and the Iowa Supreme Court building, demonstrating their unwavering support for the unborn.

As pro-life Iowans continue their advocacy, they stand united in their commitment to protect every innocent life and uphold the sanctity of human life.
